Privacy

The controller for data processing on this website is Murat Diril Cymbals UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co KG, Doerpstraat 11, 24253 Passade, Germany, contact@muratdiril.com. We process personal data only as far as necessary to run the site, the shop and to handle your requests. We use no analytics or advertising trackers.

Hosting and server logs

The website runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany). When you visit, technically necessary data is processed: IP address, time, page requested, browser. These logs serve security and troubleshooting and are deleted after a short period (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Shop, cart and checkout (Shopify)

Product data, cart and checkout run on Shopify (Shopify International Ltd., Dublin, Ireland). The cart is linked to a random identifier via a cookie ("mdc_cart", 30 days). At checkout, your name, address, email and payment details are processed by Shopify and the payment provider you choose — to fulfil the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). Shopify's privacy policy applies in addition.

Language preference

We store your language choice (German/English) in a cookie so you don't have to choose again on every visit. It contains no personal data.

Requests via forms

When you write to us via a form (Custom Made, contact, dealers, endorsement), we store your details in our database on the server in Germany mentioned above, to handle the request and reply to you (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). We delete the data once the request is settled and no statutory retention periods apply.

Account “My MDC”

Endorsers, dealers, partners and registered customers (members) can have an account with us. For this we store name, email address, country and language as well as the details you enter in the account yourself (e.g. profile, photos, links) in our database on the server in Germany — to carry out the cooperation or contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash. For signing in we set a technically necessary cookie ("mdc_session", up to 30 days) that contains only a random identifier.

Emails about your account (invitation, password, confirmations) are sent on our behalf via Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, Paris, France).

Registration as a member and serial numbers

Customers can register as a member free of charge (also via the QR code on the cymbal label). For this we store your name, email address, country, language, the time of registration and the source of the sign-up (e.g. QR code or website). The registration only takes effect once you click the link in our confirmation email (valid for 48 hours); unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after a reasonable period. The legal basis is the user agreement for the account (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

In your account you can register your cymbals by serial number, together with purchase date and place of purchase. We use this to confirm authenticity and origin of a cymbal, to match warranty cases and to contact you about your cymbal if needed. The serial number itself is not personal data; its link to your account remains as long as the account exists or until you remove the cymbal from your account.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter (on the website, during registration or in your account), we first send you an email with a confirmation link (double opt-in). Your subscription only takes effect once you click it; we store the time of sign-up and confirmation as well as the source. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time — via the unsubscribe link in every issue, in your account or by email to contact@muratdiril.com.

We use Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, 7 rue de Madrid, 75008 Paris, France) as a processor for sending. We transfer your email address, name, language and subscription status; Brevo records whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked. The data is processed within the EU. After you unsubscribe, your address only remains on a suppression list so that you receive no further issues.

Maps, locations and geocoding (OpenStreetMap)

The Artist Map shows endorsers who have agreed to the publication of their profile, with their city on a map. To place a city on the map we look up its coordinates with the Nominatim service of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge, United Kingdom). Only city and country are transmitted — no names and no addresses. The map tiles are loaded by your browser directly from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) when a map is displayed; OpenStreetMap then receives your IP address and the map sections shown. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a map of our artists and our logistics (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

VAT identification number check (VIES)

If dealers, partners or endorsers with a business provide a VAT identification number, we verify it via the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) of the European Commission. Only the number is transmitted; we store the result (valid/invalid, date) in the account because it determines whether we may invoice without VAT (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR in conjunction with VAT law).

Warranty cases

When you report a warranty case in your account, we process your account data (name, email, country, city), your details about the cymbal (model, size, type, serial number), your details about the purchase (place and date of purchase, seller, invoice number), your invoice as a photo or PDF, your comment and the photos and videos you upload. We store your consent to the warranty terms with date and version. The purpose is to assess and settle your warranty claim (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). When uploading, we remove metadata such as the recording location from photos and videos. You receive the confirmation and our reply by email.

On our side, the case is seen by our administration and by the Artist Manager responsible for you. If you return your cymbal via a collection point — usually the dealer or distributor within the EU where you bought it — that collection point receives the details needed to take it back: your name, the case number, the model and the serial number. You put the invoice in with the cymbal; it stays at the point of purchase or at our warehouse in Germany and does not go to the workshop.

Our cymbals are made at the Murat Diril workshop in Samsun (Türkiye), which assesses the damage. Türkiye is a third country without an adequacy decision of the EU Commission. The workshop therefore sees no details that identify you directly — neither name nor email address, postal address or city — but only the case number, cymbal, serial number, photos and videos, your comment, purchase date, your country and the country of purchase. The workshop does not see your invoice. Please do not put contact details in the comment. Insofar as these details still relate to you, we transfer them because they are necessary to assess your warranty claim (Art. 49 (1) (b) GDPR).

We keep warranty cases for as long as claims can arise from them (guarantee, statutory warranty, product liability). After that we delete them or remove the link to your person.

YouTube videos

Videos are embedded using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com, Google Ireland Ltd.). Data is only transmitted to Google, and cookies possibly set, once you play a video.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Write to contact@muratdiril.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Independent Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein.
